YourOwnBux.com script security issues
Before we set up our PTC site UrOnlineBux.com we spent a
few months trying to shop around for the best script.
What we found was that the market at the time wasn’t
selling any secure scripts which meant if we purchased a
basic script we would have to hire a freelance coder to
fix the security holes. This causes the process of
starting a PTC site much more expensive as you would be
paying around $200 to $300 just to get the script fixed.
We were a little frustrated that no scripts were being
sold with security fixes added so luckily we came across
the SecureBux script from PtcPay.com which is sold with
this in mind for a much better price. Some of the other
vendors we came across before this were MyPayScripts.com
which wanted to charge us around $240 for a standard
script with no guarantee of security. However it must be
said the worst we came across was YourOwnBux.com.
We say it was the worst deal because all the scripts at
YourOwnBux.com were then sold with massive security back
doors on the admin panel. It wasn’t so hard to see which
script was the most secure in the industry when they
became popular as it seemed 3 sites ever week on the
script were being hacked.
It turned out the security issue was actually quite easy
to take advantage of with even the most novices of
programmers finding their way into these sites. It
seemed for a good long while that no statements were
being made by the YourOwnBux.com owner even though most
of the sites that had used the scripts had already been
hacked. This of course put us right off the idea of
purchasing anything from there not to mention the fact
that all the scripts looked the same with very little
for the owners to change about that.
Recently the YourOwnBux.com owner has gone public and
admitted there were security exploits in the scripts.
Along with the fact that this has come a little late it
seems the owner is also pinning the blame on a “friend”
who he said caused the problems in order to exploit the
scripts himself. Not many people are buying this story
and even if it were true is certainly doesn’t instil any
more trust in the vendor for allowing his “friend” to do
so in the first place. Clearly there was a lack of
quality control before these scripts were sold along
with a lack of effort to swiftly remove these issues and
stop all further purchases.
It seems that the owner wants to warn of this exploiter
known as Pipsta who apparently runs Ad2Bank,
PayToClick.biz and EntroClicks.com with the soul purpose
of using them to get the members pass words and hack
into their PayPal accounts. None of these sites ever
performed very well and were very evident of a site run
by someone who isn’t serious about running them.
As for the Argentinean YourOwnBux.com owner he is now
trying to clean up the mess by providing people with a
hot-fix for the security issue. It is not stated if
there is anything in the way of refunds as many sites
were hacked to the point where they could not be
recovered. Some argue that you get what you pay for with
PTC scripts and the YourOwnBux.com scripts were some of
the cheapest sold. The owner now states that all scripts
sold from the vendor are fixed with no more security
issues.
It will be interesting to see if the owner can again
build a trustable reputation with these scripts as there
is no question people are already buying more elsewhere.
Very few vendors sell secure scripts but the usually if
major issues are found by the vendors they make an
effort to warn the customer to make use of a coder to
help them out.
All scripts are sold with bugs but what ever state they
are sold in the security strength is paramount. This is
why it is important to make sure you know ever issue
about a script before you purchase. There is a limited
variety of script variation in the industry today with
the major brands being the bux clone, aurora and indeed
the YourOwnBux.com script.
