Inbound links

More inbound links & SEO
Your inbound links can drastically affect how high up in search results (SERP) your blog or website shows. If you have good inbound links you can get a good position but if you have bad inbound links you can get a lower position. It makes sense, doesn’t it?
To minimize the risk of bad inbound links giving you a bad placement in search results, you should go for quality content. The better the content you have, the more likely your site is to resist or survive punishments from search engines.
What is a good inbound link and how quickly will it provide the power?
A good inbound link comes from a site with high Page Rank, quality content and high traffic. The page rank is not as important as it used to be but I don’t want to leave it out.
When getting new quality inbound links it normally takes about 2-3 weeks before your own ranking is affected. If you are lucky and get an inbound link from a site that is “spidered” often by search engines, you can see the results after only a few hours. This may vary depending on the keywords you optimized for and the frequency of people searching for those keywords.
How many inbound links should I have?
It may vary depending on the type of site you have. I think the best way to go on about this is to continuously, and in a “normal pace”, build up inbound links. To build a stable and successful site takes time, but the longer you keep going, the more benefits you win.
Don’t fall for that BS that you can buy quality web site generators that will build million dollar sites in a blink. It just doesn’t work that way and anyone who knows anything about SEO can figure that out.
It is useless to add thousands of links and hope you will get the best positions in a couple of weeks. In fact there is a considerable risk that you will be punished by search engines and losing positions in the SERP.
If the inbound links come in the form of relevant anchor text, such as keywords, site / blog name etc you need not to be so cautious.
Automatic link generators
There are a hundreds of services that offer to automatically create inbound links to your blog or site, but I want to raise a little waring when ti comes to the use of these. The link generators violate Google’s guidelines and you risk being punished and losing positions in the SERP. Use these services at your own risk.
To be honest, sometimes I think that fear of “too many inbound links” is a bit exaggerated, but I know that people have been punished and had their sites filtered so I am not saying it can not happen. Just use common sense and I am sure you will do great.
Good luck!
More SEO tips

As I’ve written before, on page SEO-actually a series of small changes, which make a big difference in how you rank in search engines.
On page, means the work you do on the web page or blog. Off page SEO is what you do outside of the website / blog, for example, create incoming links etc.
I have already published a whole bunch of articles about SEO but today I wanna talk about a few other small things you can do on page, that are important to how high you end up in the SERP: anchor text and images.
Anchor Text
When you link to another page on your blog/site (internal linking), you wanna use anchor text that describes what the page is about. The anchor text presents a higher relevance in search engines.
For example: If I have a fashion / beauty blog and has a page of my makeup tips I want people to find my make up page when entering the word ”makeup” in Google, Yahoo, Bing an so on. I use the phrase “makeup tips” for my link. Logically the phrase “makeup” is the anchor text.
The code would look something like this:
I’ve uploaded my latest <a href=http://myblog.com/makeup> makeup tips </ a> and pictures so you can easily ….
This means that the text and the link on the blog will look like this, to the visitor:
I’ve uploaded my latest makeup tips and pictures so you can easily….
It’s much better to do this than to put a link on a completely irrelevant word such as:
To get to my make-up tips click here
The word “here” is irrelevant and a waste of a good opportunity to get some SEO done. In other words, add your internal links to the target page’s keyword / key phrase.
A blog is normally not just optimized for one keyword. A fashion blog can also be about clothes, shoes, accessories, jewelry, hair etc. Each of these topics is a keyword and each post to your blog is a separate page.
Pictures
With pictures you are able to sneak in important text in the code that makes your site more relevant to certain keywords / phrases. The text is not necessarily visible to the visitor, but search engines see the text and bring it into consideration when your site/blog is ranked. Sometimes these texts are visible to the visitor and that depends on what browser they use.
For this purpose we use a so-called alt tag to add text in the image code. The alt tag may contain words or phrases and be a short or longer text. I recommend something in between (given that the text may appear in some browsers).
Let’s say I want to do SEO for the phrase “Make money on the Internet” and to use an image in my post. I do not want to spam the post with this phrase but I still want the page to be ranked highly by search engines. I publish my picture:
In WordPress, I can change the Title field (in the admin panel) and put my keyword or phrase in the box. In some browsers the text will then appear when the visitor point their mouse over the image. Like this:
If you do not have Wordpress, but a traditional website, you can change the HTML code and add the alt tag to you picture’s code. The code should look like this:
<img src=”http://uronliebiz.com/mypic.jpg” alt=”Make Money On the Internet” />
Replace the URL with the link to you image and “Make money on the internet” to your keyword or key phrase. Note that quotation marks should not be erased. In this case, I chose XHTML and thus ending the code with a /. If you write pure HTML you should remove / and add </ img> at the end instead. Like this:
<img src=”http://bloggliv.net/minbild.jpg” alt=”Make Money on the Internet”></img>
You can see at the top of your blog page if you should be using HTML or XHTML (when in HTML mode). If the page is coded with XHTML, it usually look like this:
DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “- / / W3C / / DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional / / EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd”><html xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml”>
If it does not look like this then you probably are using basic HTML.
Good luck with your pictures and anchor texts. Feel free to participate in the dicusssions by posting a comment and don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Landing page recipe to gain quality score
Mar 22nd
As you may know, Google uses a “quality score” to help determine your CPC (cost per click) and ranking. Although the exact formula for this score is a big secret, there are several things that are known and that we can do to raise our quality score.
Google rates your score as either: Poor / OK / Great. The score is based on the ‘relevancy’ and quality of the keywords we use, the ads and the landing page.
Don’t worry too much about the quality score when “testing” a product, once you a find a product that is doing well, go back and optimize everything to try and achieve a “Great” quality score to reduce CPC and raise your position.
Basic techniques for your landing page:
- Have the keyword show up in your ad and in the headline preferably.
- Keyword in the domain name
- Keyword in the meta tags of the landing page
- keyword in the ad copy of the landing page (headline, first paragraph and last paragraph most important). Keyword index should be around 2-5% (use www.keywordDensity.com to measure).
- Having other content pages on your site
- Having “Privacy”, “Terms” and “Blog” links on your page
- Have a “Sitemap” on your website, in particular have a Google Sitemap
- Have a “contact us” link with email address.
More advanced techniques:
- Google doesn’t like affiliate links. Use Redirects or Cloaking to hide your affiliate links. (www.tinyurl.com)
- Have outbound “authority site” links on your landing page
- Google likes a domain that is registered as Public (not private) and the longer it has been around the better. It’s also said that if you reserve the domain for 5 years, its better then year by year. Of course only do this for a proven product.
- Internal linking within your landing page using “anchor text”. Having links from other quality websites to yours is great too.
- The “contact us” link is even better when you also put a phone number and address (doesn’t have to be real)
- Google isn’t a big fan of “opt in boxes” especially forced opt ins and strong language around the box. I think they are okay with a soft opt in box that isn’t so strong and demanding.
Keep in Mind
- These suggestions are only to keep your adwords payments low,
they are not meant to increase conversions (although it may
help)
- a better quality score means lower minimum bids
- every adwords campaign is manually reviewed by google
- remember the visitor is important and google will randomly
solicit visitor feedback on whether they like your website
Do
- Put a professional photograph of yourself on the landing page
- Include information about yourself, your team, and what you do
- Have a separate landing page for each keyword you use in your
campaign
- Design your landing page to be user friendly and professional
looking
- Use a unique looking landing page for each keyword you’ve
chose in your campaign
- Ensure that your product must be perceived to be of quality
- If you collect user information then tell the user why
Don’t
- Don’t say a report is free if the user must sign up for it.
Say that “signup” is free instead
- Don’t put any ads on the landing page you use for
promoting affiliate products – not even google ads
SEO Quick Guide
Mar 17th
Getting organic search results is the absolute best and cheapest way to get traffic and buyers to your website. “Organic” means that the traffic is not paid for with AdWords or similar. If you think about it makes sense. 80% of all traffic today comes from organic searches and those webmastaers who get listed on the top get basically all the traffic. Those webmasters also get all the sales and the money.
Compare this to people who pay Google or Yahoo to get traffic. PPCwithin a popular niche is around $0.5 per click or more which means they have to sell one product for $50 per 100 visitors just to break even. Below you find the details that will make the difference between a mediocre and a great position in search results. The resultmay vary depending on how much competition you have for the specific keyword.
Try and look at your site form the visitors point of view and go for the keyword that the visitor is most likely to search for.
Domain
This domain should ideally contain the keyword and if it does it makes a big difference in SEO purposes. Domain ending with .com and .net areto recommend. I do not recommend .info domains.
The older your domain is, the better! If you have a domain now, but have not created or published content or the domain than it is time do so now. It is better that domain is available on the internet without any specific content rather than it being parked. You can find articles in ezines that you can get free copy and publish your page. Select an article that is relevant to the future content so that search engines index your page properly..
Title
The title should be a maximum of 64 characters long and contain the keyword maximum twice. The title should preferably start with the keyword. Since the title will appear at the top of the browser and search engines it must be comprehensible to the visitor and entice them to click on your link..
Main Heading (H1):
The main title should be no longer than 40 characters and must contain the keyword without repeating (maximum 2 times). The main title “sets” the keyword for the page so keep it relevant.
If you do not know how to make a H1: a, it should look like this in the code:
<h1> Your main heading </ h1>.
Pages
The more pages and the more text, your site has, the better. Search engines like substantial websites with lots of material. I recommend at least 5-10 pages of 500-600 words on each. You should also have a hyperlink to the Privacy / Confidentiality, Contact Page, Blog, About and Links (where you link to authority sites as Wikipedia, etc.)..
Text Volume
You should come up in 500-600 words on the page. At Least! The more the better. Note that the text must be relevant for the keyword..
Relevance
The keyword should appear in both the H1 and in one sub-heading, ie H2 down to H6..
Code
Try using a CSS file to reduce the amount of code on the page. It should be more text than code, and you should try to keep the code to a minimum. Use text links rather than images to link to your other pages. If that is not possible, use caption..
Meta description
Add keyword early in the description, preferably first..
Meta Keywords
It is debatable whether the meta keywords make any difference in SEO but it does not hurt to have them. Have no more than 5 keywords and only relevant keywords..
Links
Search engines, specially Google, do not like affiliate links. Cloak your links as far as possible. You can quite easily cloak a link by going to http://tinyurl.com and paste your affiliate link. You’ll get a short link you can use instead.
Link to large sites that are relevant to your keyword..
Back Links
Your website get quality score from search engines if other websites link to your page. Each incoming link is the same as the site “voted” on your page. This may be difficult in the beginning if you don’t immediately receive a lot of visitors who like the content of the page. To get around the problem, you can create so-called “back links”. The most popular places to create the black links are relevant forums, Digg.com, Squidoo, Twingly and various ezines where you can publish articles.
The Affiliate Code – review
Mar 11th
The Affiliate Code snagged the 2nd position in the sales top list and since there has been very few interesting products in the market lately I decided to take a look at it.
It is no secret that the info product gurus are copy cats and basically; if you buy one then you have seen them all. The Affiliate Code covers basically everything you learned from older products like Commission Blueprint and similar products.
There really is nothing revoutionary or new to be found in The Affiliate Code. The good thing is is covers basically everything you need to know about working as an affilite. So yes, it is a good newbie product.
To summarize, The Affiliate Code constists of training videos that will show you step by step all you have to do to make money online from affiliate programs by using free traffic techniques.
Modules:
Module 1: Picking A Profitable Niche
Module 2: Choosing The Right Product
Module 3: Affiliate Website Set up
Module 4: Using an Autoresponder
Module 5: Copywriting Secrets
Module 6: Getting Free Traffic
Module 7: Tracking Your Results
Module 8: Scaling it Up
For those who have been around for a while and bought info products in the past, the Affiliate Code is probably not for you. The little new information there is can be found on affiliate forums and discussion groups.

Cloaking and redirects
In the SEO realm, it is well known that Google does not like affiliate links. To encumber the whole blog with banners, Adsense ads and other adverts is not a good move if you want to be on good terms with the search engine we all love to hate. Google dominates, and if you are in Google’s bad book your whole future as an internet marketer is wavering on the edge of a cliff. If you do not make radical changes on your blog / website and focus more on quality content, you risk losing your future income.
Once you’ve been punished for keyword spamming, link spamming or affiliate-link spamming it may take a while before your site’s reputation is recovered. Better avoid that punishment from the start, right?
As a blogger, you don’t need to worry about this as much as if you have a regular web site. Your position in the blog charts will not change regardless of what Google thinks. However you lose the organic traffic from search engines and it can sometimes be quite a lot of traffic involved.
How unlikely it may seem for us bloggers people are, first and foremost, searching for information in the usual way; via search engines. This is easy to forget sometimes.
There, thats was problem number 1; Google’s reluctance to affiliate links.
Problem number 2 is the visitors who do not think you should earn commission from your links and they remove tracker code from the URLs. On top of it all, there are hackers who like to hijack your affiliate links and steal commission from you.
It’s a cruel world we live in.
Sure, but then we can just use cloak links, right? Cloaking means hiding affiliate links using other links. In other words, you get another link pointing to the correct link.
There is only one small catch … Google does not like cloak links, either.
Plague or cholera? Or maybe a little of each? Sometimes you only get bad options and have to make the best out of the situation. My suggestion is not to exaggerate in any direction. Use a little of both and stay alert.
Here are some simple ways to cloak and redirect links:
HTML, PHP and Java – redirecs
One way is to make a so-called HTML redirect. You simply create a page on your own domain, and that page will redirect the traffic on to the sales page.
<meta http-equiv=”REFRESH” content=”0;url=http://www.link.com”>
Simply replace www.link.com with your affiliate link.
The problem is that the code for redirects to be added inside <head> and </ head> tags, which complicates things when you have a blog.
Instead, you can use a simple javascript:
<script type=”text/javascript”>
<!–
window.location = “http://www.link.com”
//–></script>
This redirect show no trace on the page, but is making it difficult to keep statistics. The same applies for redirection with PHP. The code looks like this:
<?php
header(“Location: http://www.link.com”);
?>
You can also use redirect with htaccess, but that topic is a bit over the top. However, I will raise the subject at a later date.
Cloaking services
I do not recommend online cloaking services because many of them are just trying to take advantage of all the free traffic they get and there are also scam sites that replace your links with their own. It may take a while before you even realize it and who knows how much money you’ve lost then?
As if that wasn’t enough, Google will immediately find your cloak links and start frowning.
If you still want to use a cloaking service you can visit TinyURL. From what I know they do not hijack affiliate links, but it has happened that they delete links so they no longer work.
I strongly recommend that you use the tag rel = “nofollow” on your cloak links, so the search engine crawlers don’t start sniffing about. This also applies on your redirect pages.
SEO scammers

Buying services from an SEO consultant is quite expensive and they can never guarantee the desired result. Since we have been working with search engine optimization for a few years new, it is only natural that we stay updated with what’s going on in the industry.
Just recently we found that 4 of the largest SEO consultants out there charge for “expertise” that really is a pile of BS. The reason I am saying this is because all they did for their clients was to list the site URL in a bunch of low quality link portals (around 400 of them to be more precise) and they listed the client’s site on Google Maps.
Sure Google Maps is a great way to get web presence very fast but it is a FREE service, not something a client should have to pay $15,000 for. In fact it takes about 3 minutes to get listed with Google Maps and there is just no excuse for charging the client that amount. Specially since these consultants did no on-page SEO-work whatsoever.
If you are considering buying services from a SEO consultant, make sure you are getting quality expertise and not just link spamming.
List you site on Google Maps to gain quality score.
Update: UrOnlineBiz does not provide SEO services, we just work with SEO on our own websites.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.

A little update on what new and what’s coming
Mar 2nd
UrOnlineBiz has been around since July 2007 and over the years we have developed over a dozen e-businesses and learnt a lot about online marketing and webpreneurship.
It is a never ending process of learning and being updated with the latest marketing techniques and strategies… if you want to stay on top and beat the competition, that is.
It is quite funny to think back in the early days when we though making $500 – 1,000 per week was a lot and we celebrated every time we reached the magic line at $3,000 per week. What I find most hard to believe is that we actually bothered to participate in the PTC industry and how much time we spent on creating loads of splash and landing pages that only generated a couple of hundred per month. I wouldn’t say it was a waste of time, because we really learned from it (mistakes and what strategies that doesn’t work) and these days we don’t buy the hype and don’t fall for cheap guru info products.
What happened that made us change our minds?
Well first off, the PTC industry is insecure and full of scams and a complete waste of time. Second, all this talk about creating landing pages in combination with PPC advertising is also a bunch of hype. In 99% of the time you lose money, rather than earn.
3rd; e-mail marketing is also highly overrated since most of your messages will go to the junk folder or bounce. E-mail marketing is for spammers in our opinion.
We started moved our sites to blog platsforms a little over a year ago and in 3-5 months the incomes hade increased 200%- 300%. There simply is no way to beat the blog phenomena when it comes to making money online. Plus working with a website becomes much easier with a proper content management system. The site doesn’t even have to look like a blog, but ca look just like any online shop or site. On top of it all you get the search engine crawlers visiting your site/blog several times per day and you can reach #1 positions on the SERP in no time.
There are a lot more advantages with blogging platforms that we will talk about later on.
What will change on the site?
First off the membership pages are gone. VIP-members should cancel their subscriptions asap in theirPayPal accounts. We have cancelled the billing services and we hope that it automatically will stop all billing (the provider said it should). If anyone gets billed from March 1st please contact us and we will refund.
We have over 11,000 subscribers and over 400 VIP-members but we are no longer depending on membership fees to have the site running. No more signing in or paying for VIP-content. Except for digital products/reseller right products all the information will be free for anyone to access.
The forum is gone. Members can discuss articles and business here on the site by writing comments. At the end, before we started this site’s makeover, the forum was just an asylum for russian spammers really.
Old articles
, will they be back?
Yes, we will republish most of our articles and guides and some of the download-able content will be available. We are just going to do a spring cleaning and wipe out the outdated and irrelevant info products/articles before we republish them. We used to have more than 200 ebooks available for download, more than 500 scripts, 200 web templates and loads of other stuff. With this being said, we need some time to sort everything out. But we’ll do it, step by step, and add new articles at the same time.
The last 10 years in online marketing has been a long learning curve but I have to say that the last 1½ years has been the most rewarding. Suddenly all the pieces in the jigsaw puzzle fit and THAT is what UrOnlineBiz will be focusing on from now on; showing you how to solve the puzzle!
